Antique HOLLIS & SHEATH Double Barrel Shotgun
Beautifully Engraved English Double
Here we present an antique Hollis & Sheath Double Barrel Percussion Shotgun, manufactured circa the 1850s in London. This shotgun was made to hunt fowl. The gun features fine twist barrels and engraved hardware to include barrel tang, locks, trigger guard and butt plate. The bottom of the stock bears a silver initial placard. The breech of the barrels is silver banded. Both locks are marked “HOLLIS & SHEATH”. The top of the barrels is marked “LONDON/FINE TWIST”.
The overall condition is very good. The fine twist pattern remains strong on the barrels. The markings are engravings are clear. The stock is smooth and solid. The bores are smooth and dusty. The actions of the locks are strong and crisp.
