ENGRAVED Antique MANTON Single Barrel Shotgun
1850s Percussion Hunting Shotgun
Here we present an antique Engraved Manton Single Barrel Percussion Shotgun, made circa the 1850s in England. This would have been a light and handy shotgun for harvesting fowl and furbearers. The top of the barrel is marked “LONDON”. There is neat engraving on the lock, barrel tang, trigger guard, and butt plate. The lock plate is marked “MANTON”. There is a German silver initial placard on the underside of the stock.
The overall condition is good. The iron parts are dark with age. The markings are clear. The stock shows honest wear and remains solid aside from some minor slivering just forward of the trigger guard. The bore is dark and smooth. The action is excellent and crisp.
