CIVIL WAR SPRINGFIELD U.S. MODEL 1861 RIFLE MUSKET DATED 1862. .58 caliber rifled 40” barrel with Springfield proofs at the breech and dated 1862. Lock stamped “EAGLE/U.S./SPRINGFIELD” and dated 1862 as well. Original patina on metal with old spotty shallow surface rust mixed with hardened dark brown grease. Stock with the original finish and visible inspector’s cartouche. All original and in very good condition overall and with a little careful attention would look really nice. Working order and dark though very crisp bore. Scarce.
