Antique ENGLISH 10 Gauge Single Barrel Shotgun
With Engraved Back Action Lock
Here we present an antique English Back Action Single Barrel Perucussion Shotgun, made circa the 1850s. This shotgun would have been a nice hunting implement for the marsh, the field or the wood. It features a 10 gauge bore and engraved back action percussion lock. The trigger guard, barrel tang, and butt plate are also engraved. The trigger guard has a distinct square shape to it. The stock has distinctive striping in the grain.
The overall condition is good. The metal surfaces have a smooth, dark patina with some of the twist pattern in the barrel still visible. The stock is in good shape with no cracks. The bore is smooth and dark. The action is excellent, strong and crisp. Here is a good-looking shotgun from the mid-1800s!
