MADE IN 1907 in New Haven, Connecticut
Here we present a Winchester Model 1894 Lever Action Saddle Ring Carbine, manufactured in 1907 in New Haven, Connecticut. Production lasted from 1894 to present day with over a million produced. The credit for the design of such a prolific firearm lies with John Moses Browning. The model 1894 was the first Winchester rifle made for use with the new technology of smokeless powder. In all likelihood, more deer have been taken with the 1894 than any other.
This one features an octagonal barrel chambered for the desirable .25-35 WCF cartridge, an efficient and mild cartridge suitable for deer and smaller game. The top of the barrel is marked “MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN CONN. U.S.A.” The rear of the barrel is marked “25-35 W.C.F.”. The left side of the barrel is marked ‘NICKEL STEEL BARREL/ESPECIALLY FOR SMOKELESS POWDER”. The tang is marked “MODEL 1894/WINCHESTER/TRADE MARK”.
The overall condition is very good. 60% of the original blue remains with the rest of the metal surfaces covered in a nice patina. The markings are clear and legible. The walnut stock is in great shape aside from a crack on the left side of the forearm. The action on this rifle is excellent, strong and crisp. Here is a great Winchester 1894 made in 1907!
