Colt 1849 Pocket Revolver Converted to Single Shot. Converted to .22 Caliber Single Shot. Made in 1854. Gun has a smooth brown patina. The barrel has been sleeved to .22 caliber and the rear portion of the barrel is where the chamber is. The cylinder has no chambers and was not made during the period of use. The cylinder houses the firing pin, but does not revolve. The hammer hits the back of the cylinder that has the firing pin, which hits the cartridge that is chambered at the back of the barrel. This requires the barrel to be removed each time the gun is loaded and unloaded. Interesting conversion.
