Description:
Offered for sale is a very nice Springfield 1884 Trapdoor Rifle.  The serial number (408273) gives a manufactured date of 1888 making this gun a full Antique with no FFL required.  Of note is that the guns' receiver is stamped "US Model 1873".  This is due to the use of left over inventory receivers used in the manufacture of many of this model of the 1884 Springfield trapdoors.  The gun is in excellent mechanical condition with all original par and flunctions flawlessly.  The bore is excellent with no rust or pitting. The gun is equiped with a Buffington rear sight, original ramrod, one piece trigger guard and three way sling swivels.

The gun comes with an original bayonet, scabbard, frog and brass belt clip.

The metal parts of the gun retain 80 -85% or the original finish with some light freckling on the top of the recriver and some rubbed off finish at the muzzle end of the barrel.  The wood stock has an thin unrepaired crack at the grip, but is otherwise sound with only the normal dings and dents from handling.

Altogether, this is a very nice Trapdoor Springfield that will make a fine addition to any collection.
