Description:
This is a beautiful World War 2 production Remington 1903A3 rifle that was sent to Ogden Arsenal after the war for a "rebuild", and the only parts that appear to have been replaced was the trigger guard and bolt sleeve. All of the other parts including the stock are Remington and original to the rifle, and the mixed blue and parkerized finishes are all original and correct. This example is serial number 3922678 and is barrel dated September of 1943. As you can see in the pictures, the finish on this Remington 03A3 looks clean and very attractive. There is just a little thinning or patina showing on some areas that shows it was issued and/or used lightly. The bore is excellent, it still looks bright and clean with sharp, prominent rifling. There is no pitting, bulges, erosion, or any other imperfections visible. The original stock and handguard is in excellent condition overall, with the only flaws being a small crack on the top handguard(pictured), and a very light sanding. The light sanding was likely done at the arsenal level as well, and all of the original cartouches and Remington factory inspector's stamps are still visible. Ogden Arsenal stamped their mark on the left side of the stock behind the wrist, a boxed "O.G." when the work was completed. All of the stock hardware is intact and in excellent condition including the buttplate. Everything on this rifle works 100% like the day it left the Remington factory in 1943. The action is smooth and locks up tight with no slop, and all of the controls are crisp and function perfectly. This 03A3 comes with a late WW2/Korean War U.S.G.I.sling. If you have been looking for a clean and attractive WW2 1903A3 for your collection this Remington made example would be a great choice. Its not too minty that you would hurt the value if you shot it, but it's high condition enough to be a great investment!
