Description:
A very nice Colt Civilian Third Model .44 Caliber Dragoon Revolver. Excellent mechanics, crisp tight lock up barrel to frame. An all original gun with all matching serial numbers throughout. The original wedge has the correct matching font serial number and an additional number on it, signifcance of the second number is unknown. Very good visible cylinder scene about 75% there, just the Colts Patent Panel worn thin. Very good plus bore and chambers, bright deep rifling with just a few patches of scattered light [owder pitting. All original nipples intact. Crisp markings throughout, especially on the barrel address. Fine original one piece walnut grip shows much original finish with excellent fit of metal to wood. There are no cracks, chips or other damage showing on the grip. Brass straps are clean semi bright with a very light aged patina. All iron surfaces are smooth gunmetal grey showing light age patina with sharp edges and little wear. There is no eviden that the metal surfaces have been cleaned or polished and there is no pitting visible on the gun, no holster wear, and all of the screws are excellent originals and not buggered. There is no original finish remaining on the metal, but this is still a very crisp example overall showing very little use and obviously well cared for. There is nothing you would have to apologize for on this scarce Dragoon Colt, it is in the untouched condition most collectors look for but seldom find in one of these impressive big revolvers.
