The serial number has the "S" prefix which indicates that the pistol was produced before 1948 when the "C" prefix was started in that year. The pistol's serial number is 966551 S. It is fitted with the hard to find 2 inch barrel. This is a five screw frame with pinned barrel. The diamond center grips are original to this pistol. This pistol has seen some use and would rate a 93% overall condition. The color cased hammer and trigger have strong coloring. The bore is bright and clean. The bluing is very strong. There is a light drag line between the cylinder stops. The action works very smoothly. This pistol locks up tight with no sign of abuse from improper cylinder closing. The box is in very fine condition. There is no damage or repairs to the box. The label is clear and easy to read. This is a very fine condition early M & P Model with the desirable 2 inch barrel and original box and wrapping paper. Search for hlvfineguns on google.
