WWI Imperial German Luger Pistol
World War I Dated “1916”
Here we present a World War I-Dated DWM Luger Model 1914 Imperial German Military Pistol, made in 1916 in Berlin, Germany. Basing his design off Hugo Borchardt’s seminal C93, Georg Luger successfully brought Borchardt’s work to practical and productive fruition. While finding buyers for the C93 seemed an exercise in futility, the new Luger Pistol found many countries eager to test it and adopt it. There are many variations in this field of collecting, but relatively few major changes in overall design from beginning to end. The Luger is certainly one of the most iconic firearms in history, made so by its association with Germany during both World Wars.
The top of the toggle is marked with DWM’s monogram. Imperial German Army proof marks are located on the right side of the frame, the top of the barrel and the left side of the toggle.
The overall condition is very good. The blue finish is about 70% intact. The markings are clear and legible. The serial numbers match. The magazine is unnumbered. The bore is bright. The grips are in good shape. The action on this Luger is excellent.
