This is both a WWII era garand and a "Korean War" survivor as well !
This Springfield-Garand M-1 .30.06cal Ser No. 1143156 was mfg abt 12/42 and ahs survived a newer barrel w/a barrel date of "S-A-70-44" . Which according to my info means
that it was rebarreled about the last leg of the "European Theater" (WW II) and it was also fitted w/some post war parts - all Springfield,. Which also would suggest in lieu of no Armorey stamp that an Army Company Armourer probably did this along w/several others.
The metal shows the correct contrast with the other parts & they are all Springfield - as follows:
Receiver ; D28291-17, Barrels markings Side - S-A-7-44, Bolt Dwg No. - D28287-12SA, Oper Rod - D35382-SA - PW, Trig Hsg - D228290-12SA w/Milled Trig Guard, Bullet Duide - Late abt '44, Clip Latch - Rounded, Follower Asby - 13 (abt '44), Follower Arm - Bevel - abt '43, Follower Rod - T-4 (Riveted), , Oper Ord Catch - Late abt '44, Lower Band -Milled , Butt Plate - Springfield, , Stock w/Defense Eagle Cartouche on L-side - also solid walnut (not Birch).< gas Cyl p Springfield, Gas Cyl Lock Square Edge for Grenade Launcher fixture, gas Cyl - Poppet Valve - "WWII), Rear Sight - Elevation - "Knurled & Spg, Windage Knob - DRC, Trig Hsg - D28290-12SA, Hammer - T-2H, C5546008, Safety - SA-11, Trigger T 1 (Forged (Earley), , Plunger T-2.
The Stock is in excellent condition w/no cracks or handling marks.
Overal I would give this Spg - Gar an NRA rating of Excellent
Also not only would be acollectible but a prospective good shooter as well - Muzzle Reading is .75 (Excellent, Throat Reading 1.70) both excellent.
