This factory Custom Shop Remington 40XBBR KS rifle in 6mm BR caliber is the absolute pinnacle of Remington's efforts to build a super accurate benchrest rifle. It comes complete with the original box and all the paperwork from the factory including the 100 yard test target. It is fit with an excellent Bausch & Lomb Model 64-2440D 24X scope which is also complete with the box, manual, and all the extra parts (lens caps, turrets, sun shades). Introduced in 1987 by Remington's Custom Shop, this rifle was hand built and fit to be as accurate out of the box as humanly possible. This 1996 manufactured model is single shot and has a 20" inch heavy stainless match barrel with a chamber that requires custom sized brass for the 6mm BR chambering. The barrel is stamped on the left side with ".266 DIA. NECK 6MM BR". The paperwork describes how to size the brass in detail to work in this rifle. It also states that factory loaded 6mm BR ammo will NOT fit properly in this rifle. The rifle is drilled and tapped both on the receiver and barrel for optics. The 40X receiver is factory blued and serial numbered to the factory jeweled bolt, serial number 060004 B with the bolt being electro-penciled with the last 3 digits of the serial number. The left side of the receiver is marked "Remington Model 40XBR". The rifle is stocked with a factory green Kevlar benchrest stock with a wide and flat forearm and a short and narrow buttstock. The scope is a 24X power Bausch & Lomb target scope with super fine target crosshairs, an adjustable objective lens, and tall target-style turrets. This rifle is in excellent condition overall. The barrel's exterior stainless steel finish looks clean and the bore is minty and bright. The rifling still shows sharp lands and grooves, and there is zero pitting or erosion. The factory blue finish on the receiver and trigger guard rates 95% or better, with the only finish wear showing on the bolt handle. The stock shows some small spots of finish wear, mainly on the lower side edges. You can see these in the pictures provided. The stock is structurally perfect as there are no cracks or repairs, and the bedding material used by the Remington Custom Shop was executed perfectly with no glass visible above the wood line. The scope is also in great shape. The optics are bright and clear with no scratches or chips, and all of the adjustments work perfectly. The gloss black finish of the exterior of the scope looks attractive, with only a few small spots of finish wear on the turret caps and some minor ring marks showing. This rifle comes with a Redding Benchrest Competition Bullet Seating die as well as a Redding die set, and 97 brass cartridges already trimmed to the proper size for this rifle. Additional brass can bought online at Midway etc. This Remington Custom Shop 40XBBR KS rifle in 6mm Benchrest would be the perfect choice for someone wanting a package that is set up and ready to go to the range. As mentioned before, it is complete with all the packaging, paperwork, loading data, and test target. These Custom Shop guns are quite hard to get from Remington and cost just under $4000 new, at $2995 complete with an excellent target scope this rifle is a great deal.
