Description:
This is a very nice and all-original Smith & Wesson Model 686-5 .357 Magnum revolver complete with the original box and all of the inserts. This pre-lock stainless steel S&W features a Hi-Viz fiber optic front sight on a 5" inch barrel and an adjustable target style rear sight with a round butt frame and a 7-shot cylinder. The 5" inch barrel is somewhat uncommon with 4 and 6" inch variations being much more common. While this example is used, it appears to have been used very little and well cared for. The stainless finish still look very attractive and shows only some minor handling marks under close inspection. The bore looks new with no pitting or erosion and strong rifling, and the cylinder bores are equally as clean. The original Smith & Wesson branded black rubber finger groove grips are in excellent condition and are free from any damage, tears, or repairs. The mechanics of this Model 686-5 are like-new and in perfect working order. The action is "in time" and locks up tight with no wiggle. The trigger is nice and particularly good in single action operation. This pre-lock S&W would be a great addition to any collection, or a great choice for a woods/hunting/range gun.
