#13574, Charles Ingram, 18 Renfield St., Glasgow: A 12 Bore Boxlock Extractor with 30" Damascus Nitro Proved Barrels with Dolls Head Rib Extension & a Hidden Third Bite, Modern Birmingham Nitro proof with the proper reproof marks, .723" right barrel & .733" left barrel, Chokes at .000 & .016" (Cyl. & Mod.), Modern proved to 2 3/4", Correct bore size as proved in Birmingham at 18.4mm(.724") & 18.6mm(.733"), Wall thickness on the right barrel at .035" and the left barrel at .027", Double triggers, Splinter forend stamped inside with the W. (William) Anson patent with a frontal release, Straight hand stock at 14 1/2 x 1 7/16 x 1 3/4" over a checkered horn buttplate, Very slight cast-off, 6 lbs. 11 oz., The receiver flats stamped with the Anson & Deeley patent for an action that uses the leverage of the barrels to cock the locks when opening which eliminated the outside hammers, The joint patent #1756 of May 11, 1875 by John Deeley & William Anson, This invention is perhaps the best known of all that came out of the Westley Richards factory, This gun marked as the 4,868th made under this patent, Nice wood, 90% coverage of very nice rose & scroll engraving that remains as sharp and crisp as the day it was cut, 15% original case colors remain, The breech face has 90% case colors left, Zero primer burn at the striker holes, The barrel brown is at 98% when done at the time of the Birmingham proof, The barrel striking is excellent plus, The stock & forend is very solid with a lot of handling marks at 65%, The checkering at 70%, The bores are excellent plus after the polishing prior to the Birmingham proof, The barrels are smack on face with excellent bite remaining for a lot of extended shooting. ///////////////////////////////////// Charles A. Ingram, nephew of Charles Ingram, acquired the Glasgow, Scotland business of James Dalziel Dougall in 1894. The London directories still carried the Ingram name in 1929 and there still was an Ingram firm as of 1946. They moved to Renfield address in 1870 & in 1925 they were at 10 Waterloo St. and closed their business in 1946.
