A nice original example of the Colt 3rd Model Dragoon, that is U.S. stamped and inspected, but not cut for a shoulder stock. Serial numbered in the 17,xxx ramge, this gun has excellent, clear stampings and visible cartouches on both sides of the grips, and would have a really perfect ranger and indian cylinder scene, had not someone used the cylinder as a hammer. All parts, including the rammer and the cylinder, have matching serial numbers, and based on the sharpness of the bore and the excellent condition of the gripa, this gun appears to have been well cared for. Overall, it is in very good, untouched condition with a tigfht action and a natural grey-brown patina.
