Description:
NSN, .69 Cal., 42" barrel with a good, lightly pitted bore that has freckling within the grooves. This is an “attic find" musket that has an 1846 dated Springfield lock, and 1848 dated barrel with full complement of crisp U.S. proofs. The metal has an overall dark brown patina with thin freckling and pinprick pitting throughout. The walnut stock is dried, but still in fine shape with numerous small handling marks scattered across the surface. The cartouches are visible, but very faint and illegible. The musket comes with a correct metal ramrod that also matches the condition of the musket. This is an attractive looking example and would make a wonderful decorator piece, or wall-hanger. Antique
