#1871B, Shiloh Sharps Rifle Manufacturing Co. - Big Timber, Montana - Shiloh Sharps Model 1874, Calibre 40-70 2 1/2 ST, Heavy 26" full octagon barrel, Matte finish blue, Full Buckhorn sporting elevator rear sight, Blade front sight, Single trigger, Case color hardened, Excellent English Walnut that was sent to Shiloh for the custom order, Excellent color and contrast, Hand rubbed oil finish, Steel escutcheons around the screws in the forend and buttstock, Traditional pewter forend tip, Straight stock at 14 1/4" lop over a traditional steel checkered shotgun buttplate, No cheekpiece, 9 lbs. 15 oz., It was then sent off to be engraved by Master Engraver Mr. Ken Hurst of Robersonville, North Carolina, He was a Master Engraver for both Colt and Winchester; It has 50% coverage on the frame, lockplate, hammer and lever, This is high quality engraving that is very well cut, Mr. Hurst signed it in 2 places, The original barrel blue remains at 99%, The case colors at 100%, The oil finish remains at 99%, The bore remains new. ////////////////////////////////////// Mr. Ken Hurst has been engraving guns for over 50 years. He was a Master Engraver for Colt’s custom shop in Hartford, Connecticut. The Winchester custom shop would send him guns to his shop where he had a staff of several engravers and he would do the design work. His company did the last 100 Super X's for Winchester in the #5 pattern which was called the number 5 Gold.
