Correct period ramrod. 51 3/4" overall with correct 32 1/2" barrel. Correct bright finish on barrel with old patina. Breechblock with correct "US" under eaglehead and proper "1870" date omitting the word "Model" as on later models. Bore is excellent overall with crisp rifling and one small ring of old corrosion halfway down barrel less than 1/3" long. Correct "U" marked barrel bands and blued swivels. Perfect inletting to lockplate stamped "1863" behind hammer as well as crisp eagle and "U.S. Springfield". Hammer with crisp halfcock and full cock. Pretty well unturned screws. Correct sights. Traces of cartouches under old period of use dings and scratches. Just post Allin conversion hard to find. Rare early version transition trapdoor would fit in nicely to trapdoor collection.
