SUPERB CIVIL WAR SMITH PERCUSSION .50 CAL. CAVALRY CARBINE. 21 5/8” barrel. Serial number "14,XXX". Excellent original condition overall with barrel having excellent bore and rifling. Barrel with 85% factory blue quite brilliant wit balance fading to patina. Original sights. Crisp maker’s address and patents on left side of frame(Mass Arms…). Traces of original case colors in recesses. Excellent unturned screws. Excellent working order and locks up tight as it did day one. Wood excellent with original finish and very minimal signs of use from the CW period. Bolster and nipple pretty well like new condition so almost never used or well taken care of with no signs of dry firing. Original cartouches very crisp and legible. Many used by Illinois and West Virginia Volunteer Cavalry Regiments as well as many others. Very nice original example.
