ORNATE SILVER MOUNTED OHIO PERCUSSION HALF STOCK RIFLE BY LEVI BIDDLE, JR. CIRCA 1850. .36 cal. Rifled 34” heavy weight octagon barrel signed “L. BIDDLE”. Lock signed RIDDLE”. Original sights. Ornately engraved silver stock inlays and brass patch box. Particularly nice “EAGLE” engraved cheek rest mount. Brass trigger guard and butt plate. Tiger maple stock with pewter forend cap. Double set triggers. Untouched and in very fine original condition. Barrel with minor original blue mixed with patina. Stock with the original finish and showing modest use. Old barely visible hairline at the wrist. Working order and excellent bore. Levi Biddle, Jr. was from Sugar Creek Township. Very highly regarded maker well known for his fine engraving.
