Description:
For sale, a Mauser Model 1910/14 Transitional .25 ACP pistol.  This Mauser was built sometime between 1914 and 1921, with our best guess being sometime during WW1 in 1917 or '18.  The serial range for this time period (1914 to 1921) is 61,000 to 221,800.  The "Transitional" Model 1910/14 incorporated some of the changes that were being made between the 1910 Model and 1914 Model like the number of slide serrations and the sideplate design change, but was not yet a full 1914 Model.  These .25 ACP pocket pistols were extremely popular and Mauser made a large number of them to meet the demand.  There were quite a few of these carried by German soldiers in WW1 and even WW2 as a back-up weapon, and as a result many of them ended up in the U.S. after both wars ended as war trophies.  This 1910/14 Mauser is in great shape mechanically, but appears to have gone thru a refinish a long time ago.  The refinished blue shows age and patina typical of 40 to 50 years.  It is a very dark blue appearing almost black, and it shows high edge wear and some light pitting under the finish.  As you can see in the pictures, it does not appear to have been buffed at all before being refinished which preserved all the sharp edges and lettering/stamps perfectly.  The bore in this Mauser is pretty good.  It has prominent and sharp rifling, and is just slightly frosted looking.  The original 1-piece checkered Walnut grips are solid, but show a lot of handling wear on the checkering.  Everything works 100% like it is supposed to on this Mauser and it should function just fine.  This is a neat little pocket pistol with a lot of history that would be an interesting addition to any gun collection.
