A total of 20,000 muskets were altered at tha frankford Arsenal from 1856-1859 with many of them seeing service in the civil war. This gun is in very good plus Cond. with pitting in the bolster and breech area but all other matal smooth and clean. Lock plate marked Remington, Ilion N.Y. U.S. 1858. Hammer and primer are in great working order. Bore is very good. Stock is very good with light cartouche on left flat. A good looking Maynard conversion that is not often seen. SOLD Antique: Yes |
