Description:
This model is actually quite rare, only 1000 made and because the distribution was so widespread the survival rate was quite small and are very scarce. This one has over 80% original barrel finish of which much has turned a plum blue color. The receiver has over 85% blue-black color. All of the markings are sharp and crisp. The wrist has a very good 1885 inspector’s cartouche and the lock is 1873 dated. This is serial number 318490, and the mechanical function is very good, crisp and tight. The bore is very good bright and shiny with strong rifling and the wood is very good with only a few abrasions and blemishes. This is a very rare Experimental ramrod-bayonet rifle with few surviving specimens.
