Antique American LONG RIFLE Made for a YOUTH
With Josh Golcher Lock Made Circa the 1840s
Here we present an antique American Half-Stock Long Rifle Made for a Youth circa 1840s. This rifle features a .30 caliber bore and back action lock. The barrel is fully round. The lock is marked “JOSH GOLCHER” and is engraved with a hunting scene. This would have made a great squirrel rifle for a young boy in early America. This rifle is marked with the initials “J.R.” on the portion of stock just behind the trigger guard.
The overall condition is fair. The metal surfaces are dark with age. The markings are clear. The stock is somewhat repaired near the pewter fore end cap and remains a little loose. The bore is dark and smooth. The action on this rifle is functioning.
