Description:

“CSA” Stamped Antique AUSTRIAN IMPORT Musket

.73 Caliber Smoothbore Musket Circa 1840s

Here we present an antique Austrian Percussion Conversion Musket, made circa the 1840s. Austrian muskets were heavily imported to the United States during the American Civil War when both combatants were desperate to arm their forces. This one was converted to percussion (cone type) around that time and is marked “CSA” on the stock, once in front of the lock, once behind the barrel tang, and once in front of the butt plate. The lock, trigger guard, and side plate bear Austrian inspection marks like the Two-Headed Eagle. The rearmost barrel band bears the British proofs of the P1853 as it is a replacement. The bore is smooth and .73 caliber.

The overall condition is fair. The iron parts are dark with age. The markings are partially legible. The stock shows hard use. The bore is smooth and dark. The action is functional.

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrel is 37 inches.

Caliber: .73

Overall condition as seen in photos.
