Description:
Good condition. The Serial Number of this early hammer rifle is 2792. Caliber is .450 Black Powder Express. The 28 inch Damascus barrels are separated by a full length, file cut rib fitted with one folding leaf express rear sight; and a silver bead front sight. The rear of the rib is engraved “Alex. Henry. 12 South St Andrew St. Edinburgh. Bottom of one barrel is stamped “HENRY’S PATENT 1079 the other is stamped the same but with 1078. The action and lock plates are engraved with well cut, small scroll. Scroll engraved trigger guard. Walnut butt stock has a checkered butt with engraved steel heel and toe plates. The wood appears to have been refinished. Weight: 9 lbs. LOP: 14-1/4". Bores are very fine with strong rifling. The chambers show no damage. The action is tight. The locks are crisp. The safeties work. This is a very fine double rifle by this highly regarded Scottish maker.
