Description:
Winchester 30 W.C.F. (30-30) Super Speed with 170 grain Silvertip Bullets in the very rare and desirable Crouching Grizzly Bear Box. Box is full and complete with bright vibrant colors and displays well. This is the box all collectors want. The first smokeless powder cartridge introduced by Winchester in 1895 was simply called the 30 Winchester Center Fire cartridge or 30 W.C.F., and all early guns and ammunition were so marked, the same as these cartridges. The reason for this name was to differentiate it from the conventional black powder nomenclature which listed the caliber in decimal and black powder charge in grains, such as the 32-40, 44-40, 38-55 and 45-70. But, people started calling it the 30-30 Winchester since it was originally loaded with 30 grains of smokeless powder, not black powder, and the name stuck. This cartridge was never factory loaded with black powder and to avoid confusion, Winchester started listing both names on these transitional boxes. Additionally,in 1940, Winchester introduced their new Silvertip ammo in these boxes and there is an excellent description of the bullets construction on the reverse side of the box. WW11 started in 1941 and since all of the ammunition production went to support the war effort, there was little or no ammunition available for the civilian market. These people had to use what ever supply they had in stock, making this a very rare box indeed. These boxes have sold well in excess of my starting price and I am listing it with no reserve. The pictures show the condition of the box and ammo much better than I can describe them. One inner flap is attached with clear tape. It is the buyers responsibility to know and comply with their state and local laws governing the purchase and possession of ammunition. By buying this ammo, you are certifying you are over 21 years of age and there are no Federal, State or local laws prohibiting your purchase or possession of this ammo. Ammo can only be sold in the lower 48 states. Some States do not allow on-line ammo sales, unless you have a state issued exception permit and you are responsible to know your local laws. Therefore, ammo will not be sold in the following  States: Alaska, California, Chicago IL, Connecticut, Hawaii, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington DC. Ammo can not be delivered to a P.O. Box address. Ammo sold for collector purposes only and not sold where prohibited by law. I will combine purchases to save on shipping.
