Description:
This is a beautiful all-original Smith & Wesson Model 17-5 "K22 Masterpiece" revolver with a 6" inch barrel made in the late 1980's. The original factory blue finish rates 97% or better with only some tiny handling marks visible under close inspection and one small dark blue spot on the right side above the trigger (close up picture provided). The overall appearance of this S&W is excellent as you can see from the pictures. The bore is minty and bright in this S&W. The rifling still shows sharp lands and grooves and there is no pitting or erosion visible whatsoever. The cylinder bores are equally as clean and pristine. The factory iron sights are in excellent condition. Both the windage and elevation adjustments on the target-style rear sight work perfectly. This K22 Masterpiece has particularly attractive factory Cocobola target grips that are in excellent shape. They show lots of nice contrasting figure and grain, and are free from cracks, chips, or repairs. The original checkering is still clean and the grips are nicely fit to the gun and tight to the metal. The action on this Model 17-5 is smooth and crisp. It is perfectly "in time" and locks up tight. The trigger is exceptional in single or double action modes of operation. All of the controls on this Smith work 100% like the day it left the factory. These K22 Masterpieces are very collectible and nice examples seldom last long on the market. If you have been looking for a collector quality Model 17 for your collection, this 17-5 model would be a perfect choice.
