Winchester .32 Special Super Speed with 170 grain smokeless expanding Silver Tip Bullets in the very rare and desirable Crouching Grizzly Bear Box. Box is full and complete with vibrant colors and displays well. This box is much rarer than the equivalent 30 W.C.F (30-30) Bear Box and has sold for over $500.00.
This cartridge was introduced by Winchester in 1902 to compliment their earlier 32-40 black powder cartridge. With it's 1 in 16" rifling twist rate, shooters were able to successfully reload this cartridges with their preferred black powder in favor of the new smokeless powder thereby, enabiling them to shoot two calibers 32-40 and 32 Special. This was not possible with the earlier 30 W.C.F. (30-30) cartridge with it's 1 in 10" twist rate. This faster twist rate terribly fouled the barrels, preventing the loading with black powder.
In 1940, Winchester introduced their new Silvertip Bullet in these boxes and there is an excellent description of the bullet's construction on the reverse side of the box.
