Description:
WINCHESTER MODEL 70, 30-06 SPRINGFIELD, 24" WINCHESTER HEAVY TARGET Barrel. SN#49024, MFG: 1942, Barrel Dated: 1952. This gun appears to be a Original USMC SNIPER RIFLE. Developed by the USMC SNIPER PROGRAM, in Quantico, VA, by Gen. George Van Orden, in the in 1950's. The guns originally purchased by USMC in 1942, SN# Range: 41000 to 50,000, but not put into military service until 1950's. The guns converted to this configuration by adding Glass bedded Winchester Factory Target Barrels, Lyman 77 Front Sights, Lyman 58WH Peep Sight, Scope Blocks with Unertl Notch on Right Side, and Winchester Dimple on Left Side. After leaving the Military, Gen Van Orden, started EVALUATORS LTD, and continued to make a commercial version of this gun. Original guns had electo pincel etched U.S. Marine Corp, etched on receiver. This gun has been Re-Blued, and etching removed. Excellent Mechanically, with Excellent Bore. Ships to Lower 48, W/Insurance: $65.00
