The barrel has an overall freckled plum-gray patina with some small areas of pinprick pitting visible, and has a spring-loaded, flip-up bayonet at the muzzle that has a 2 3/4" triangular blade with short fullers. The frame has a typical design motif on the right with a shield, stand of flags, and “London" in an oval; the maker's name on the left: “J & W/Richards" (in business 1808 – 1810). The sliding trigger guard acts as the catch for the bayonet when stowed, and has a freckled gray patina throughout, while the cock has still vibrant original color case-hardening visible along the sides. The bag-shaped walnut grip has some minor handling marks throughout, but is devoid of any cracks or chips. The action is tight and fully functional, as are the bayonet spring and latch. This is a fine, London-made pocket pistol, and would make a great addition to any collection. Antique SOLD Antique: Yes Manufacturer: Richards Model: Pistol Caliber Info: .42 Gauge Info: .42 |
