Description:
This is a very nice all-original Smith & Wesson Model 659 in 9mm Luger caliber. The Model 659 is similar to the Model 59 but is all stainless steel construction. This is a traditional double action semi-auto pistol design with a 14-shot magazine with an ambidextrous combo safety/decocker lever and magazine safety. This satin finished stainless steel pistol has an adjustable rear sight with 1/8" inch serrated front sight. It has checkered black plastic factory grips, a squared trigger guard with front checkering, front and rear grip strap serrations, and a lanyard loop on the butt. This model was manufactured by Smith & Wesson from 1982 to 1988. These were popular with Law Enforcement agencies before the polymer pistols became all the rage. These Model 659's quickly earned a reputation for being very accurate, utterly reliable, and nearly indestructible. This example made in 1985 is in excellent original condition and has obviously lived an easy life. The satin finish is very attractive and only has some tiny handling marks visible under very close inspection. The bore and bolt face are very clean. The bore shows no pitting or erosion and still has sharp rifling. The factory black grips show some small handling marks but are completely free from cracks, chips, or repairs. Everything on this S&W works 100% like the day it left the factory. The fit and finish is excellent, and the action works smoothly and locks up tight with no slop. As mentioned before, this pistol has not had many rounds thru it and both the externals and internals could pass as having been made last year rather than 33 years ago. If you have been looking for one of these for your collection it would be very hard to find a better example than this one. It would also make an excellent shooter and self defense pistol with some heft, and being as how it is all stainless steel it will require very little maintenance. Comes with one factory original 14-round magazine. Sorry; no box or manual.
