Description:
This is a scarce and sought-after Smith & Wesson Model 539 in 9mm Luger in beautiful all-original condition. This 2nd generation S&W semi-auto was the last update to the original Model 39 pistol. Manufactured for a very short time from 1980 to 1983, only approximately 8,000 total were made. An unusual feature of this S&W is that it was produced with a carbon steel frame instead of an aluminum alloy or stainless steel. This pistol features a fully adjustable target style rear sight and rounded trigger guard. This Model 539 is in great shape and appears to have been fired very little since it left the factory. The factory gloss blue finish rates 97 to 98% with only some minor high edge wear and some very light pinprick-type freckling on the frame in and around the trigger guard area. This really does not detract much from the clean attractive appearance of this Smith. The original factory checkered Walnut grips are in excellent condition. They are free from cracks or repairs, and show some tiny handling marks but no soiling or wear to the checkering. The bore in this pistol is bright and clean, still showing prominent rifling with sharp lands and grooves. There is zero pitting, erosion, or imperfections of any kind visible. All of this pistol's controls work as they should, and the action on this pistol is smooth and locks up tight. This Model 539 comes with one original factory magazine (8-shot). Sorry, no box or manual. If you have been looking for one of these hard to find S&W's, here is your chance to get a really nice all-original high-conditioned example.
