Antique HALF-STOCK Percussion Long Rifle in .40
With Double Set Trigger & Back Action Lock
Here we present an antique Half-Stock Percussion Long Rifle, made circa the 1840s. It was very likely made in Pennsylvania, Ohio or Kentucky. This rifle, like many of its day, would have done double duty as a provider and protector. Its .40 caliber bore would have been stout enough for 2- or 4-legged beasts. This workhorse has lived a hard life.
The back action lock is marked “WARRANTED” with a modest game scene. It comes equipped with double set triggers for precision and safety.
The overall condition is fair. Mixed patina on the iron throughout. Some small repairs have been done to the ramrod hardware and stock. The bore is well-rifled and in good shape. The action is strong and crisp. Here is a good old rifle to a good home.
