Description: General Specs: AyA, Year 2009, 20 Gauge, 5lbs 15oz, LM/F, LOP 14 7/8", DAH 2 1/4", DAC 1 7/16" Serial Number: 220-09 From the AyA : The N° 4 has been AYA’s standard boxlock design since 1960. It is modelled on a Westley Richards boxlock action, brought to Spain by the King brothers. The Anson & Deeley action, the most famous of all boxlock designs, was created by two employees of Westley Richards in 1875, and ever since, Westley Richards guns have defined boxlock elegance. When reviewing this gun, SN220-09 built in 2009, it is a fine upland gun indeed. Weighing 5lbs. 15oz. and balanced perfectly 1/8” ahead of the hinge pin, you can carry this gun all day with little fatigue. The 20ga. chambering is known to be deadly on pheasants, grouse, quail, dove, woodcock and all upland game. The condition is 99.5% factory with just the faintest of wear on the edges of the action. This gun was special ordered with upgraded wood highly figured and a deep, rich chocolate brown color. Shipped with its original box, you are basically getting a new gun at used gun prices (same gun new is about $5400). The 28" barrels are of the chopper lump design, long heralded as the very best method of joining the barrels and utilized mostly in "BEST GUNS" from the likes of Purdey and Holland & Holland. The receiver retains 99% bone and charcoal case color and is in perfect mechanical condition, with strong well-timed ejectors and crisp double triggers. These are known to be highly reliable guns, and this one has some of the best wood you will ever see on a Model 4/53, and we all love good wood, don’t we!
