NAZI GERMAN DWM Luger 1920 Commercial Pistol
Weimar Republic, Inter-World War Production Pistol
Here we present a German DWM (Deutsche Waffen-und Munitionsfabriken) 1920 Commercial Luger Pistol, made between the two World Wars, circa the 1920s. After the Great War, the victors imposed limits on German arms production and the economy was in tatters. To stay afloat financially, DWM assembled pistols from their stock of military pistol parts so they could export them to places like the US.
This luger was made for export. It is chambered for the 7.65 Luger, fulfilling the sub-9mm requirement and it has a barrel length of 3-3/4 also meeting the Treaty’s expectations. The safety is marked “GESICHERT”. The top of the toggle is marked with the “DWM” logo. A “CROWN/N” proof mark is found on the left side of the toggle and the left side of the chamber. “MADE IN GERMANY” is stamped on the front grip frame. This one comes in a very interesting loop holster with a weave pattern on the front and a retention strap. This seems to have been modified for use with this Luger. It is in good condition.
The overall condition is fine. 60% of the original blue remains. The markings are clear and legible. Serial numbers match. The bore is sharp and bright. The walnut grips are in great shape and are marked in pencil with matching numbers to the gun. The action is excellent. Here is a 1920s Luger Pistol with a Western-style holster that makes a very intriguing combination. Where has it been?
