Description:
This is the last year of production for this model Winchester. The year was 1898. The carbine's serial number is 169780. It has been converted to shoot the 44 Centeral Fire 44 flat cartridge. This late Winchester has seen much use and wear. Several of these late Model 1866"s were converted to shoot the 44 Centeral Fire cartridges during that time frame. This carbine has all the late features you would expect to see with this model. The action works good with no issues. The metal parts show weathering and use. The finish is in the patina condition The reciever shows use and wear. There is no damage or repairs done on the reciever. The bore is in reasonably good condition and would shoot well. The wood is sound with several surface lines. The forend has a small hair line crack on the bottom against the reciever base. The saddle ring is intact as well as the staples for the ring. This is a well used Winchester with plenty of character. Being one of the few that were chambered for the 44 Henry Flat Centeral Fire cartridge is a real plus for this carbine.
