Ballard introduced the 38-55 cartridge in 1876 and Winchester adopted it in 1884 for their single shot rifle. Remington merged with U.M.C. in 1912. The top label still refers to this as CENTRAL fire cartridges and the term was changed to CENTER fire cartridges in the late 1890's. Also, later cartridges were only loaded with 48 grains of black powder. The pictures show the condition of the box and ammo much better than I can describe them. Ammo sold for collector purposes only and will not be sold where prohibited by law. Ammo can not be delivered to a P.O. Box address. I will combine purchases to save on shipping. SOLD |
