Exceptional custom rifle built by Clayton Nelson on a pre 64 Winchester action. Clayton Nelson is a instructor at the Trinidad School Of Gunsmithing. Three leaf folding rear sight on a custom 6" rib. The left side of the barrel is marked "257 R" and marked with circle with N inside. Hand checked bolt handle with a M70 style side safety machined turned/jeweled bolt body and follower. The receiver has been fitted with a set of dovetailed scope base with peep sight and detachable rings and only weighs 8# 2oz including scope.
The rifle has been hand fitted with a fabulous super-tight grain English walnut stock with cheek piece with ebony forend tip, Biesen metal butt plate with hinged plate. The pistol grip and forend have also been meticulously hand checkered in a super small 22-24 line per inch. Very fine custom built with nice blue finish that shows no wear. The stock is excellent with a couple minor handling marks and crisp checkering. This is a very rare rifle as Clayton Nelson only built a handful of complete rifles like this.
