Description:
Browning manufactured the BLR model in Belgium from 1969 to 1973. A lever-action design with a rotary bolt head, it was offered in .243 Winchester or .308 Winchester caliber and featured a checkered Walnut pistol grip stock with a factory installed recoil pad, a 20" inch barrel with a hooded front sight and adjustable rear sight, a 4-shot detachable box magazine, and a factory drilled and tapped receiver. They were very well made with a high degree of fit and finish, and the BLR quickly earned a reputation for being a reliable and accurate rifle with classy looks. This particular example was made in 1970 and is a one owner rifle purchased new in 1970. It has never been fired since leaving the Belgian Browning factory and is in like-new condition in the original box. It has spent it's entire life in storage! The original gloss blue finish is spectacular and rates 99%. The only deduction we could find is a tiny bit of finish wear on top of the hammer from the action being opened where the bolt makes contact with the hammer to cock it. The bolt still has the original factory oil dried on in from the factory. The bolt face is pristine. The bore is in mint condition with no imperfections. The factory installed plug screws in the receiver have never been removed. The original checkered Walnut stock is in like-new, excellent condition. There are no dents, dings, or handling marks visible. The factory installed Browning recoil pad is also pristine, and was precisely factory fit and tight to the wood. The length of pull is approx. 13.75" inches to the end of the pad. This Browning BLR comes with the original factory box which is in good condition overall. The factory end-label is torn in places but mostly intact and there is enough of the serial number remaining to verify that it is the original box. The styrofoam and cardboard inserts are in excellent shape and the original anti-rust paper is still in there as well. The owner's manual was lost at some point and is the only thing missing. This is the finest Belgian manufacture Browning BLR rifle we have had in decades. If you have been looking for a top quality BLR to add to your collection there is no finer example in existence!
