CIVIL WAR Antique BENT & BUSH Staff Officers Sword
Civil War Staff and Field Officer Sword
Here we present an antique Bent & Bush Staff & Field Officer’s Sword, made circa 1860 in Boston, Massachusetts. This U.S. Model 1860 staff & field officer sword was worn by officers in the rank of major and above. It was designed to replace the heavier and much sturdier Model 1850. This sword was used by officers in the American Civil War as well as the Indian Wars.
The blade is marked “BENT &/BUSH/BOSTON/MASS”. The middle of the blade is etched with “U.S.” along with other patriotic American decorative etchings.
The overall condition of this sword is very good. The brass on the handle and hand guard bears an aged patina and verdigris. The scabbard is missing the drag and bears a dark patina.
