Unit Marked EUROPEAN Antique CAVALRY SABER
With Etched Blade
Here we present an antique Cavalry Saber, made circa the mid-19th Century in Europe. This saber resembles the 1860 Light Cavalry Saber in size and overall design, but this example bears etching with a crown on each side of the blade, a single branch off the D-guard, a long quillon, and the left side of the guard folds down over the thumb.
The guard is marked “1AFXX/7” and the scabbard is marked “3.AF6X”, which appear to be old unit markings. The blade has some faint etching with a crown near the top. The handle is wrapped with leather and braided wire. Guard is of steel.
The overall condition is very good. This sword featured a 32-1/4-inch blade.
