This outstanding "Lightning" comes with a Colt authentification letter showing it was shipped from Colt in January 21, 1884 to Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Company located in Chicago, IL., and that it was fitted with a 3 1/2 inch barrel chambered in .38 Long Colt. It is in exceptionally fine condition and there is no evidence that it has ever been fired. The bore is perfect and all of the original blue is still present in the cylinder chambers. The frame retains nearly all of its original case colors, with just a few surface marks on the left side, and the original blue is 95%. The majority of the blue wear is on the back grip strap, possibly from a flap holster. The fragile acid etched "COLT D.A. 38" panel marking, which is often worn off, is still fully intact, further demonstrating the outstanding condition of this fine Colt.
