Description:
SOLD / Pending Funds / Springfield Model 1884 “Cadet” Trapdoor, serial # 564966, cal. 45-70, has a 29 1/2" barrel with a very good bright bore with strong rifling, metal retains 80%+ blue turning patina, barrel is VP Eagle P proofed, buttplate is stamped US, the number 205 is stamped on the left side of the buttstock along with a P proof in a circle behind the triggerguard. The breechblock is marked "U.S./MODEL/1884" and the lock plate is marked with the eagle/shield motif along with "U.S./SPRINGFIELD" ahead of the hammer. The stock at the right side bottom below the rear sight has a ¾” x ½” chip, stock is stamped with a SWP 1893 cartouche. A sling swivel is attached to the trigger guard and a sling swivel and stacking swivel are attached at the front barrel band. The rifle has its button head cleaning rod. Overall condition is good plus – good plus plus. Inv. # 22-178
