Known as the "rifleman's rifle," the model 70 has been popular throughout history with hunters, and has also seen use from law enforcement and military snipers. Shooting Times magazine awarded the Winchester 70 the title "Gun of the Century" in 1999. This model 70 is chambered in .223 Remington, a caliber widely used by target shooters and varmint hunters alike. 223 Remington, one of America's favorite calibers, is well suited for varmint or predator hunting. It's a practical cartridge that is very reliable. 223 Remington ammo can be found in abundance; this makes keeping your shooting skills sharp very easy, and restocking light on the wallet. It's also an easy gun/caliber combination to learn the ropes on if you're teaching a up-and-coming shooter. This model 70 features a rich walnut stock and 24 inch matte stainless barrel. It's also equipped with a one piece rail ready to mount an optic. A few marks on the top of the barrel and marks on the rail from scope mounting denote an otherwise perfect looking rifle. An all-around great rifle, and a great addition to any collection.
