Description:
General Specs: Winchester, Year 1954, .22 LR, 6lbs, LOP 13 1/2"
Serial Number: 123112A

The Winchester Model 63 was a continuation of the Model 1903 with the exception that the M63 was redesigned to shoot the more popular .22 Long Rifle.  When the Model 1903 was introduced, it was a wholly new design not seen in any past firearms.  The Model 1903/63, (M63 introduced in 1933), has remained basically unchanged mechanically from 1903 to 1958 when production was ended due to the high cost of making these hand fit rifles.  The Model 63 Deluxe rifles are of superb workmanship, with fine steel and gorgeous walnut, machined to perfection into a flawless design.  They made a LOT of standard rifles, which shipped with plain walnut, no checkering on the wood, basic in its delivery.  As with most Winchesters, they also catalogued a “Deluxe” rifle, one shipped with 3x wood, hand checkered with perfect multi-point checkering patterns, the finest metal finishes…a rifle for those who wanted the finest little .22 auto they could find.  This awesome little Winchester 63 Deluxe, sn123112A made in 1954, has been engraved after leaving the factory by Master Engraver Thierry Duguet with superbly executed banknote style scroll and large bulino style gold inlaid rabbit and squirrel.  Duguet was formally trained in Belgium and is a noted engraver who has done work for Winchester, Kolar, Cooper Arms, Dakota Arms, Connecticut Shotgun Manufacturers, and many more.  This is engraving of the highest level and eminently appropriate for such a fine little rifle.  It appears to be an original 63 Deluxe that after its embellishment was reblued to perfection.  The wood finishes appear to be factory original as does the checkering.  What a gorgeous example of the gunmaker’s art, and at an affordable price.  Winchester rifles like this one will always be desirable and make a grand investment vehicle in the way of a tangible asset.  Look closely and don’t drag your feet.  This gun is priced to sell.  Thanks for looking!
