Description:
This is a spectacular 100% original and unfired early Norinco Model AKM-47S underfolder in 7.62x39 caliber that is complete with the original box and ALL of the accessories it originally left the factory with, including the serial numbered & matching bayonet! This AKM is one of the very first Norinco imports into the U.S. in the 1980's to the Sile firm in New York. It was bought new by the previous owner who looked at it, wiped it down, and put it in climate controlled storage where it has resided ever since, until we acquired it several days ago. As you can see in the pictures it is beautiful. These early production Norinco AKM's have a commercial-quality bright blue factory finish with substantially more attention to fit and finish than the later production guns. Another interesting characteristic of these early guns is the lack of factory stamp on the barrel trunnion area of the receiver on the left side. The later AK's will have a factory/arsenal stamp located there. This AKM-47S is stamped on the left side with "AKM/49S Semi Auto 7.62x39mm" and the bottom of the receiver is stamped "Norinco Sile N.Y., N.Y. Made in China". These early guns also came from Norinco with a blued bolt, unlike the later production examples where the bolt was left in the white. This gun has all of the desirable "pre-ban" features including the threaded muzzle with a slant style brake, a bayonet lug, and a pistol grip folding stock. All of the serial numbered parts are matching on this AKM-47S including the receiver, the bolt and bolt head, the action dust cover, the recoil spring guide, and even the gas tube (As mentioned before the bayonet is serialed to the gun as well). The original factory blue finish rates 99% like-new with no imperfections or wear to the finish. The bore is virgin and minty with sharp lands and grooves and no visible imperfections or wear. It is factory hard chrome-lined to resist corrosion and wear and will last thousands upon thousands of rounds fired thru it. The factory under-folding stock is like-new and functions 100% like the day it left the factory. It locks firmly in either position, and the gun can be fired and the magazine can be changed with the stock extended or folded. The original hardwood stock set is in minty like-new condition as well. Both the forearm and buttstock are free from any cracks, chips, or repairs, and the original varnish rates 99% or better with no flaking or wear showing. Both parts are tight to the gun with play or wiggle. The only detractions on the stock set is a very small dent on the bottom of the forearm where the buttstock makes contact when folded, and the slot is slightly buggered in the screw that is located on the bottom of the pistol grip that holds it on. Neither of these two things detracts from the beautiful and clean appearance of this Norinco. Everything on this AKM works 100% like it did the day it left the Chinese military factory. As you can see in the pictures, it as as complete as possible with the original box, military-style cleaning kit, owner's manual, military-spec sling and sling hardware, three 30rd Chinese military contract steel magazines, and a Chinese military spec bayonet with the scabbard serial numbered to the gun and belt attachment hardware. This is as good as it gets for one of these Norinco AKM-47S rifles. If you have been looking for a pristine vintage Norinco AKM-47S underfolder, here is your chance to get one of the nicest examples in existence. It would be impossible to upgrade in condition from this one, and would be a centerpiece addition to any collection and excellent investment.
