Description:
1943 Union Switch & Signal M1911A1 pistol. This pistol is 100% ALL ORIGINAL. It is a rarely encountered type 2 with the "hanging" "P" proof just above the cocking serrations on the left side of the slide. "P" proofs on the slide and receiver match perfectly and are struck through the original WWII Du-Lite blue finish applied at the US&S factory. All small parts are original to the gun, as is the WWII Hi Std. barrel. All mating wear patterns match perfectly. Condition rates at least 97% original finish.

This is one of only about 20K type 2 US&S pistols produced. US&S only delivered 55K pistols to the military, all in 1943. The magazine with the pistol is correct WWII production and was made by Risdon, and has an "R" stamped on top of the toe.

The circled R.C.D. Ordnance final inspection of Col. Robert C. Downie is struck through the original finish of the pistol and serves as acceptance on behalf of the U.S. government.

Truly all original US&S pistols in high condition are extremely rare. This is a great example and nice addition to any collection. It would be very difficult to upgrade.

Contact me with any questions or to purchase the pistol. Thanks.
