Description:
Offered here is an estate fresh stunning set of French duelers in quite high condition manufactured by the French firm of Verney who worked in Lyon France since about the 1830's. This set is properly engraved 1 and 2 on the rear top of the barrels which show a lot of very nice nitre or flame blue. They are both serial numbered 4075 on the undersifde of both barrels. The No. 1 pistol has some slight pin prick loss on the right side of the barrel, otherwise the blue remains very strong on the left side. The No. 2 pistol retains nearly all of the original nitre blue. The set features nice large rifled bores measuring about 45 caliber or slightly over 11 mm. They appear to be ebony stocked and have very simple but elegant hardware. There is a nicely engraved script S on both triggerguards and on the eschucon on the top of the box. Both actions operate correctly and have good spring strength. They are complete with all the correct accoterments and is complete with a nice French form fitted brass trimmed case which is in good shape but does require some slight repair. Some of the brass trim has seperated and I have kept the pieces needed for repair and I do not have the key. Overall a very nice set of a peer of Boutet and the other master gunmakers of the region. I feel I have priced them very reasonably well under their true value for a swift sale. Thank you for your interest and contact me with any quetions you might have.
